The entire 53 kms of the Kawartha Trans Canada Trail is open for horseback riding. It is possible to ride the full length of the trail in a single day, from Simcoe Street / County Road 2 (south of Manilla) in the west to Ackison Road (near Peterborough) in the east. However, there are no overnight accommodations along the trail for horses and riders.

There are also many smaller sections that are ideal for a shorter ride. The most common access point providing easy parking for a vehicle and trailer is where the trail crosses Eldon Road at the Pic Seed Shelter
